Equally important for well-being is our functioning in the world. Experiencing positive relationships, having some control over one’s life and having a sense of purpose are all important attributes of wellbeing.
Our focus is on ensuring that you lead a life that balances the competing demands and stresses of your relationships, family and work with those of exercise, nutrition and sleep. In addressing these demands REGAIN Health and Fitness is fully aware that at times your relationships, family and work will have priority over exercise, nutrition and sleep. However, our aim is to provide you with strategies and tools that increase your resilience to life’s stressors and improve your general wellbeing. These strategies are based on the following five pillars:
- Relationships…your relationships are the cornerstone of your being and you must take time to development and cultivate them as they will support you in tough times and enrich you every day as you get older.
- Exercise…Exercise has many known psychological benefits in the treatment of stress and depression. When you exercise, your body releases chemicals called endorphins. These endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that reduce your perception of pain and trigger a positive feeling in the body. Improved self-esteem is a major psychological benefit of regular exercise.
- Take notice…Become aware of the world around you and what you are feeling. Reflecting on your experiences will help you appreciate what matter to you.
- Keep Learning…Try something new. Set a challenge you will enjoy achieving. Learning new things will make you more confident and improve your self-esteem.
- Give…. Seeing yourself, and your happiness, linked to the wider community can be incredibly rewarding and will create connections with the people around you. Do something nice for a friend, or a stranger. Thank someone. Smile. Volunteer your time. Look out as well as in.
